At Excellence College Preparatory Charter High School, every aspect of the educational experience is intentionally designed to prepare students for success in college, careers, and life. Our model combines rigorous academics, exceptional performing arts, technology integration, character development, and individualized student support to ensure every scholar graduates prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Guided by our commitment to Excellence Without Exception, we challenge students to pursue academic excellence while developing the creativity, discipline, and leadership skills necessary to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Students complete a rigorous curriculum aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards and designed to prepare them for admission to competitive colleges and universities. Coursework emphasizes critical thinking, analytical writing, problem solving, research, and effective communication while maintaining high academic expectations for every student.

Our academic program includes honors and Advanced Placement coursework, dual enrollment opportunities, structured intervention, and individualized academic planning to ensure every student is supported and challenged throughout high school.

Every incoming ninth-grade student begins their journey before the first day of school through the Monarch Institute, our two-week summer transition program.

Students participate in academic diagnostic assessments, literacy and mathematics acceleration, school culture development, technology orientation, and relationship-building with teachers and classmates. Using assessment data collected before school begins, faculty develop individualized academic support plans that allow interventions to begin immediately when students arrive in August.

Students follow individualized schedules based on their academic needs, graduation requirements, and postsecondary goals. This traditional high school scheduling model allows students to access honors courses, Advanced Placement classes, dual enrollment, intervention supports, electives, and performing arts without being restricted by grade-level scheduling.

Instruction is guided by ongoing assessment and data analysis to ensure every student receives timely support and opportunities for academic growth.

The arts are not extracurricular—they are central to our educational philosophy.

Every student participates in fine or performing arts as a graduation requirement, developing creativity, confidence, collaboration, and discipline through authentic artistic experiences. Students may participate in band, choir, dance, speech and theatre, visual arts, media production, and additional artistic pathways as the school grows.

Daily rehearsals, performances, competitions, and community showcases provide students with meaningful opportunities to refine their talents while building teamwork, leadership, and resilience.

Technology is integrated throughout the educational experience rather than taught as a standalone skill.

Students develop digital literacy, media production, research, presentation, and collaborative technology skills while creating authentic projects that support the school community. Technology instruction emphasizes responsible digital citizenship, creativity, and problem-solving, preparing students to succeed in higher education and an increasingly technology-driven workforce.

College preparation begins in ninth grade.

Students receive comprehensive academic advising, four-year planning, scholarship guidance, financial aid support, college application assistance, standardized test preparation, career exploration, and opportunities to earn college credit through Advanced Placement and dual enrollment.

Every graduate leaves Excellence College Prep with a clear postsecondary plan and the skills necessary to pursue higher education, military service, entrepreneurship, or meaningful careers.

Academic excellence is strengthened by strong character.

Through daily Family Meetings, advisory programming, leadership development, community service, and school traditions, students cultivate integrity, empathy, perseverance, responsibility, and servant leadership. These experiences foster a culture of belonging where every student is known, valued, challenged, and supported.

Student learning is continuously monitored through formative assessments, benchmark assessments, classroom performance, and individualized academic planning.

Teachers collaborate regularly to analyze student data, identify learning needs, and implement targeted interventions. Additional academic support is available through Saturday enrichment, summer programming, tutoring, and structured intervention opportunities designed to ensure every student remains on the path toward graduation and postsecondary success.
